Do you want to work with us to ensure democratic and legally secure elections?

We are now looking for you who want to work in an authority that has an important and central role in the democratic process.

About the job

The Election Authority is a central authority responsible nationally for planning, coordinating, and conducting general elections and referendums. The authority is also responsible for handling tasks within the framework of the European Union's citizen initiatives.

As an election officer at the Election Authority, the tasks during an election are both broad and routine. Before elections, it is not always possible to know in advance which tasks will be relevant. Therefore, you should enjoy working with varied tasks and be able to quickly reprioritize when circumstances change. At the Election Authority, we work in teams. Since this is about elections, it may involve working at times other than regular working hours.

The Swedish Tax Agency is the host authority for the Election Authority, and everyone who works for the Election Authority is employed by the Swedish Tax Agency, located at the Election Authority's office in Sundbyberg. The office consists of about 45 employees, and you will work in a team in our election unit.

Our work is characterized by respect and pride in the important mission we have. You plan your own workday and drive your work both independently and together with knowledgeable and engaged colleagues. We offer you flexible working hours, and it is important for us to create conditions for a balance between work and leisure.

About you

To do a good job and thrive with us at the Election Authority, you need to be attentive, think innovatively, and take responsibility. Good judgment and an understanding of legal security and safety are important in the work. You should also adhere to our employee policy (https://skatteverket.se/medarbetarpolicy).

In this job, you should:

  • be good at collaborating and supporting others to achieve common goals
  • independently plan and drive your work forward to achieve results
  • be flexible and quickly adapt to new circumstances
  • have a methodical and systematic working approach
  • have a very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing
  • be able to analyze information flows, see connections, and make decisions.

You should also have:

  • a completed higher education of at least 180 credits/120 old points in law or social sciences.

Relevant and current work experience from public administration is desirable. Relevant and current experience of working with elections, such as a ballot receiver, is also desirable.

Good to know

The employment form is a fixed-term employment, starting May 2026 or by agreement, until September 30, 2026.

An employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment. For some of our tasks in security class, Swedish citizenship is required.

On val.se (https://val.se) and skatteverket.se/jobb (https://skatteverket.se/jobb), you can read about our socially significant role, the benefits of working with us, and how to apply for our jobs.

Our overarching ambition is for the Election Authority to be an open, reliable, and development-oriented authority that contributes to a high level of trust in the Swedish electoral system.
